EFCC arrests 5 ‘internet fraudsters’ in Ibadan

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibadan Zonal Office on Friday arrested five suspected Internet fraudsters in Ibadan.

The Commission in a statement in Ibadan said among the arrested suspects is one Ayomide Samuel Adebowale who trades in Bitcoin for his alleged involvement in cyber crimes.

Others arrested alongside Adebowale were Philip Gabriel, Mayowa Jolaoso Segun, Babatunde Segun Adeyinka and Abiodun Tolulope Emmanuel.

According to the Commission, Ayomide along with four others were picked up from two locations at Elebu area in Ibadan, and that the suspects whose ages range from 21 to 37 were arrested sequel to a series of intelligence received by the Commission on their alleged involvement in internet-related crimes.

It listed the items recovered from the suspects as two cars, laptops, phones and some documents suspected to contain false pretences and that they would be charged to court “as soon as the investigation is completed.”
