An Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, the state capital, has remanded the Kingmaker of Edunabon town in Ife North West Local Council Development Area of the state, Chief Olatidoye Oyedokun in prison, for alleged public disturbance.
The accused kingmaker was arraigned alongside 10 others including a traditional Chief, the Osolo of Edunabon, Chief Odebode Elijah Akande.
Other accused are: Gbenga Olasunbo, Oladeji Yunusa, Abiodun Ogunwede, Ige Lawrence, Emmanuel Adisa, Babalola Bisi, Bello Olalekan, Ramoni Oyetoro and Adegbami Kehinde.
They were arraigned on 51 count charges bordering on disturbance of public peace, harassment, among others.
Counsels from the stay Ministry of Justice, led by Mr Dele Akintayo, told the court that the accused persons committed the purported crime on 19th of December, 2018.
He alleged that the accused conducted themselves in a manner that caused breach of peace at the palace of Salu of Edunabon.
The accused persons were alleged to have disrupted the peace of the town in which the palace was burnt and the tradition ruler, Oba Olatunde Oladepo, the Salu of Edunabon and many people in the town were harassed and injured.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the allegations level against them.
Their counsel, Mrs Susan Olubunmi, urged the court to grant them bail, promising that they would not jump bail.
Magistrate Riskat Olayemi declined the bail application and remanded the accused persons in prison. She adjourned the case till 14th of November, 2019 for mention.
