A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Owan East local government area of Edo state, Mr Sufiyanu Igbafe berated the constituent’s former deputy chief whip at the House of Representatives, Hon Pally Iriase for parading himself as a member of the party.
Sufiyanu said Thursday that the former House of Representatives member had been suspended by Owan East local government APC ward 09 in 2018 and subsequently expelled from the party in 2019.
He said the punitive measure followed a report of disciplinary committee set up by the ward 09, Otuo, executive committee, adding that Iriase had since joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The party leader also disclosed that the ex-rep lack the moral justification to interrogate governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration and therefore challenged the him to “account for funds he collected as constituency projects during his two term at the federal parliament”
Sufiyanu, who displayed a letter conveying Iriase’s expulsion dated 27th February, 2019, said the local committee in its reports upheld the recommendations of the ward especially on the factionalization of the ward executive immediately after the ward and local government congresses.
According to the letter, which was addressed to the state chairman of the APC and the governor, Iriase was accused of funding, supporting and sponsoring his personal assistant, Mr Hilary Ozogo as the PDP candidate for Owan East constituency state assembly election.
Besides, a report of the committee set up to consider the report of ward 09 disciplinary committee on the ex-rep alleged anti-party activities showed that Iriase refused to attend is sitting on February 25, 2019.
“in addition, the local government youth leader, Mr Osahon Iriabevbo informed the committee that Pally Iriase funded the PDP and also canvassed vote for the opposition during the February 23rd, 2019 presidential election,”.
However, Iriase in a terse statement said: “governance has been reduced to such a level that an unknown fellow will be procured by Edo state government to go on personal attack on the weighty issues raised by me.”
