Edo: PDP expels impeached deputy governor, national vice chairman

The crisis rocking the Edo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wednesday, deepened, following the expulsion of the National Vice Chairman, South South of the Party, Chief Dan Orbih.

The party also announced the expulsion of impeached former deputy governor of the state, Comrade Phillip Shaibu, and Hon Omorgie Ogbeide Ihama, a former member of the House of Representatives.

The State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ogie Vasco, who disclosed this in a statement said the decision was reached during a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC).

The party spokesman said nine members of the SWC attended the meeting which was held at the party secretariat in Benin City.

Reacting to the development, Chief Orbih said those who claimed to have suspended him were ignorant of the party’s constitution.

According to him, “they don’t have any power to even suspend or expel anybody without following strictly, the provision of the constitution of the party”
