Muslim communities in Benin City, Edo state capital have paid Eid-el-kabir homage to Benin monarch, HRM. Oba Ewuare II.
The deputy Chief Imam, of Benin Central mosque, Alhaji Osahon Otokiti, led other Muslim leaders across Hausa, Arewa, Yoruba communities and other ethnic groups in the state on visit to the palace.
The Muslim faithful also stated that the visit was part of activities marking Eid-el-kabir festival also known as feast of sacrifice in Islam, adding that it featured prayer of peace, unity and prosperity in the land.
“We interceded for leaders in positions of authority, including the Oba of Benin, Benin Royal Court, Benin Royal family, Edo State and Nigeria,” they added.
Also, the Deputy Chief Imam of Benin Central mosque, Alhaji Osahon Otokiti, declared that Edo people are in solidarity with Oba Ewuare II for exemplifying the traits of dignity and steadfastness in pooling through thick and thin since he attained the throne of his forebears.
Alhaji Otokiti thanked the Royal father for his support towards Muslims and for unifying the various ethnic and religious groups living in the State.
Responding, Oba Ewuare II, congratulated leaders of Muslim communities in Edo state on the successful Eid celebration and urged them not to relent in prayers for Nigeria.
He prayed for the group and extended his goodwill to Muslims during the Sallah’s celebration.
