The Edo state government Monday said individuals whose lands or properties were illegally taken or destroyed under ex-governor Godwin Obaseki would be compensated by the present administration.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie, stated this during a thank you party for the people of Uhumwode local government area of the state.
Osagie said the government was fully aware that the previous government acquired some community lands and property taken without compensation.
He noted: “The government is already writing the wrongs to ensure harmony in the state.
“There are so many landed properties of Edo citizens who have worked hard and invested in the state that were forcefully acquired without compensation.
“This administration is going to make sure where those property is to be compensated is compensated, while those that need to be released will be released to their owners.”
Osagie also said all law suits capable of derailing the government will be thoroughly be handled by my ministry in order to prevent any distraction.
He stated further that, “my ministry will provide the legal services to the government to make sure justice is delivered.
“The ministry will also provide the legal advice to the governor to ensure governance have a human face where there will be no oppression and victimisation in the state.”
