Edo guber: INEC begins issuance of accreditation tags to journalists  

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has begun the issuance of identification tags to journalists accredited to cover this Saturday’s governorship election in Edo state.

The distribution commenced on Monday at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) in Edo state.

Blueprint’s correspondent who was among journalists accredited for the election, observed that the issuance of media tags was hitch-free.

The National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun had said 114 newspaper, radio, television and online media organisations successfully uploaded the details of 721 personnel to cover the election.

Olumekun noted that the full list, including the number of personnel to be deployed, has been uploaded to the commission’s website and social media platforms for public information.

He assured all accredited groups of unimpeded lawful access to voting and collation locations.

The committee chair appealed to media organisations and observers to abide by their codes of professional ethics, the law and the Commission’s regulations and guidelines in their reportage and observation of processes.
