Edo governorship election: LP aspirant urges indigenes to interrogate ‘money bags’

A Labour Party (LP) aspirant in the forthcoming 2024 governorship election in Edo state, Mr. Ogbemudia Bassey Osagie, has urged the people of the state to be wary aspirants “who throw money” at them to garner support.

He also charged the people to interrogate the source of “money bags” aspirants’ source of income “because if elected to office, such aspirants would recoup what they had spent.”

Osagie, a Canada-based security detective, disclosed this to journalists Friday during a visit to the Secretariat of Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Edo state.

The aspirant said though electioneering process “requires money, it should be legitimate,” adding that “I will only spend money legitimately.”

“What you will not see me do to start throwing money around. We are running a campaign of the people and by the people. I have acquired knowledge, I don’t want to die with it,” he said.

The aspirant said he would make security, education, road infrastructure his priorities given the LP ticket and voted to power.

He revealed that his aspiration to govern Edo was borne out of his desire to provide better and project-driven governance to the people.
