Edo governorship election: AAC candidate seek CVR extension

The African Action Congress (AAC) candidate in the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State, Dr. Udoh Oberaifo, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend the time frame for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in the state.

Oberaifo who disclosed this on Sunday after monitoring the exercise in some parts of the State said his appeal was to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in the electoral process.

He stated that the CVR is a pivotal step towards ensuring the people’s voices are heard in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

The guber hopeful nonetheless discribed the exercise as impressive, following the large turn out of the people at various registration centers.

According to him, “the CVR which began on May 27, has been commendable despite the set back caused by the flood disaster which destroyed INEC CVR capturing machines.

“As the CVR exercise progresses in the state, I urge all Edolites to go out en masse to register for their PVCs, revalidate their existing ones, and for those outside Edo State, transfer your voter cards back home.”

He added that the forthcoming election would present an opportunity to elect a leader who will end the cycle of violence, enhance security and address  infrastructure deficiencies.

The ACC candidate noted that his commitment is to make Edo state a viable and prosperous region that will fulfill the dreams of generations to come.
