Edo FA name Eguavoen League Ambassador

Former Super Eagles coach and captain, Austin Eguavoen, has been named as the Ambassador of Edo State League. Th e announcement of the lanky coach was made in Benin over the weekend during the Nigeria National League match between Insurance and Delta Force which ended 2-0 in favour of Benin Arsenal.

Th e Chairman of Edo FA, Frank Ilaboya, who announced the news said Eguavoen will henceforth be the face of the State and serve as the role model as well as mentor the up coming players “We are excited to name coach Eguavoen as the Ambassador for Edo State League, his appointment is part of the innovation we are bringing to the table as far as this year league is concerned. “We are convinced that he will do a good job in this role and the youth of Edo State will benefi t from his immense experience spanning of 15 years in the domestic scene.

“His international exposure is also an added advantage and all these be a value added to the state” In his response, Eguavoen , who is currently on holiday in Europe says he was by his choice and promised to be a good Ambassador for the league. “Honestly I am honoured and overwhelmed by this gesture by the Edo FA Board led by Frank Ilaboya and I promise to do my best to reciprocate this wonderful gesture. “Th is is the fi rst time this type if thing is happening in the Nigerian League and I must say kudos to Frank Ilaboya for his innovative mind. He has actually brought live to Edo State football” he concluded.
