Edo: APC urges tribunal to dismiss PDP’s petition

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Wednesday described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) petition challenging the victory of Governor Monday Okpebholo as incompetent.

The party stated this in a motion it filed through its lawyer, Ferdinand Orbih, SAN, at the pre-hearing sitting of the 2024 Edo Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

Orbih urged the three-man tribunal to dismiss the PDP petition because according to him, “the petition was not filed in accordance with the provisions of the law.”

He also stated that the tribunal lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

However, the PDP  counsel, Ken Mozia, SAN, urged the tribunal to discountenance the argument of the APC.

He explained that the petitioners had filed a reply and counter-affidivit to challenge the motion.

Consequently, the tribunal’s chairman, Justice Wilfred Kpochi,  reserved ruling on the motion until the final day of the case.
