Edo APC disowns call for Oshiomhole’s resignation

The leadership of Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC)nhas distanced itself from a group under the aegis of Edo APC stakeholders calling for the resignation of its National Chairman and former governor of the State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Spokesman for the State APC, Mr. Chris Azebamwen,  who disclosed this in a terse statement said the group do not speak on behalf of the party.

According to him, “All registered and card carrying members of APC are stakeholders and there are no splinter groups with APC in Edo State.

“Any such persons do not speak on behalf of our party or its member,” Azebamwen said.

The stakeholders group on Sunday asked for the immediate resignation of Oshiomhole even as it accused the party’s National chairman of “promoting nepotism in Edo politics”.

The group’s position is coming amidst widened gulf between the APC National Chairman and Governor Godwin Obaseki over the latter’s bid to seek the party’s ticket for  a second term.

Spokesman for the stakeholders, Dr. Peter Ologun, had said, “Oshiomhole’s continued stay in office will no doubt culminate in the demise of APC in Nigeria.”

“If Oshiomhole refuse to toe the path of honour by tendering his resignation letter, Edo APC members would be left with no option but to stage a one million man march in Abuja to peacefully enforce his removal from office”.

Ologun further said whereas, President Muhammadu Buhari has never interfered in the affairs of Katsina state and other States, adding, “the situation is the reverse in Edo”.
