The chairman of National Economic Summit Group (NESG), Mr Kyari Bukar, yesterday presented report of the just concluded 21st National Economic Summit (NES) to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The 100-page report was received by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Babachir Lawal on behalf of the President.
The SGF said economy and security were inseparable, stressing that the federal government was doing its best to address the security challenges in the North-East and create employment opportunities for the youth in the area.
He called for the involvement of all stakeholders in re-building the areas affected by the Boko Haram insurgency, saying that the people in the area have lost all their means of livelihood.
He said: “I have to tell you that my people did not harvest any food last year as a result of insurgency. Insurgency has also affected education and youth development.
“Our youths have been deprived of education for almost six years. Also, I will like to let you know that before the problems of insurgency, 90 per cent of youths in the zone were not employed.”
