Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has said the state was leading other states of the federation in the diversification drive of the nation’s economy.
He stated this yesterday when playing a host to the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, at the Government House, Lafia.
Al-Makura explained that the diversification vision was eventually possible with the coming of President Buhari’s diversification policy of getting the country out of the woods, which consequently made Nasarawa to lead other states of the federation for its potentials in solid minerals and agriculture.

“The support we have given in the establishment of the solid minerals laboratory, and our vision about four years ago has been achieved with the coming of President Muhammadu Buhari, this is to shows you that we are ahead of other states,” he said.
He said nobody ever thought that President Buhari would bring a policy that would make in a high proponent for states to embark on solid minerals and agriculture.
The governor commended the polytechnic management’s foresight for introducing entrepreneurship studies in the institution’s curriculum which he said would go a long way in improving the nation’s economy.

“The state government has entered into partnership with Singaporean firm for the installation of the equipment, as well as the training of trainers in the various skills acquisition programmes.”
Earlier, Rector, Prof. Shettima Saidu, said the institution had taken into cognisance of the ongoing economic diversification efforts championed by President Buhari by concentrating more on skills training, supported with entrepreneurial background for students to become employer of labour rather than job seekers after graduation.
