The council chairman of Afikpo local government, Timothy Nwachi, Wednesday announced the relocation of businesses to a new site.
The businesses affected includes; artisans, motor parts dealers, building materials, scrap dealers,rice mills, telecommunication operators, Okirika (fairly used clothes) sellers, and electrical & electronics dealers.
While artisans, motor parts dealers, building materials, scrap dealers, rice mills are to relocate close to Bishop Okoro regional market, telecommunication operators, Okirika (fairly used clothes) sellers , and electrical & electronics dealers are to move to Afikpo city plaza, near the council headquarters.
Relocation of the markets was contained in an announcement signed by the Secretary to the local government , Priscilla Alu Idam.
According to the announcement, relocation of the market was part of the efforts of the council chairman to uplift the status of the LGA.
It added that the deadline for the relocation is Saturday, November 30, 2024.
It reads, “In his avowed determination to give Afikpo a new look, befitting its status as the 2nd City in Ebonyi State, the Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area,NWACHI, Timothy A. U, after due consultation with relevant, stakeholders has approved the relocation of the following businesses from all parts of the Council Area to a centralized location as follows;
