Easter: NSCDC deploys 3,000 in FCT

In order to enhance security throughout the Easter festivities in the nation’s capital, no fewer than 3,000 personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been deployed to strategic places in the FCT.

Commandant of the FCT command of NSCDC, Patrick Ukpan, through a statement signed the Corps Public Relations Officer (PRO), Akinbinu David, emphasised the need to enhance security; given that criminals take advantage of festive seasons to indulge in malicious acts.

He added that the Armed Squad, Disaster and Emergency Units were also on standby to provide extra protection as well as respond aptly to emergencies as soon as the need arose.

He implored NSCDC officers and men to be extra alert, increasing their patrols and surveillance, in order to provide heightened protection across the FCT, especially, places like worship centres, parks, recreation centres and borders of the territory amongst several other places.

According to him, “the safety of citizens and our state as a whole is priority number one, especially now to ensure residents have a peaceful celebration.

“Be vigilant, obey rules and order, don’t over indulge, don’t drink and drive, obey traffic rules and please reporting every unusual and suspected act or individual to the nearest security post.”
