ears return as equity market sheds N201bn

Domestic equity market on Wednesday returned to bearish run, declined by N201 billion following loss recorded by BuaCement and other medium stocks.

Market capitalisation of listed equities depreciated by 0.70 per cent to N28.428 trillion from N28.629 trillion traded on Tuesday.

The NGX All Share Index also depreciated by 396.35 basis points to 52209.06 points from 52605.41 points recorded the previous day.

A review of the investment showed that

Ardova led gainers table in percentage terms, gaining 10 per cent to close at N22.00, NCR followed with a gain of 9.91 per cent to close at N2.33 per share, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria added 9.69 per cent to close at N2.15 per unit, Japaul Gold increased by 6.68 per cent to close at N0.34 per share while CWG added 9.43 per cent to close at N1.74 per share.

On the contrary, Caverton topped losers chart during the day declining by 9.48 per cent to close at N1.05, SUNU Assurance followed with a drop of 9.26 per cent to close at N0.49 per share, BUA Cement down by 8.02 per cent to close at N90.00. Academy Press fell by 7.88 per cent to close at N1.52 per share, Africa Prudential declined by 4.46 per to close at N5.35 per unit.
