Due process: Kano commissioners back Draft Procurement Law

Kano state Commissioners for Finance, Prof. Kabiru Isa Dandago, and Environment, Alhaji Ali Abubakar Makoda, have expressed their ministries’ determination to ensure the smooth passage of the proposed state draft procurement law presented to the state executive council by the state Due Process Bureau.

The commissioners disclosed this while receiving the Permanent Secretary, Kano state Due Process Bureau, Engr. Muhammad Adamu Musa, during an advocacy visit to the commissioners.

The Commissioner for Finance, represented by the permanent secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim Dankadai, and the Commissioner for Environment, represented by the Director, Administration And General Services, Alhaji Aliyu Garo, said the Law if passed “will assist in curtailing wastages and ensuring transparency in executing projects and handling of public funds.”

The commissioners commended the Bureau’s permanent secretary and the management team for their efforts to transform the Bureau and pledged to provide the necessary support.

Earlier, in his remarks, Musa said they were at the ministries to intimate the commissioners on the activities of the Bureau, especially on its transformation from project monitoring to the Bureau by the Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje administration.

He added that as partners in progress the two ministries had a vital role to play in ensuring “management of goods and resources, procurement of goods and services.”

Musa, therefore, solicited their support in facilitating the smooth passage of the Law.
