The national coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Rear Admiral Yaminu Musa (retd), has disclosed that drug is one of those foods that are fueling insecurity in Nigeria.
According to a statement by Director, strategic communications NCTC, Ozoya Imohimi, the NCTC coordinator disclosed this when he received on a courtesy visit, the Director General, National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye and her team, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Musa harped on the need to strengthen collaborations among relevant government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies, particularly, NAFDAC, to tackle the menace for a safe and resilient society.
According to him, “To get an action that is very effective, you have to first of all treat those things that you take to make you stronger and I believe drug is one of those foods that are fueling our insecurity.”
“It is only through psychological approach that we can really, first of all entangle that network of groups that have formed themselves as forces against humanity and national security,” he stressed.
The National Coordinator stated further that the Centre’s partnership with NAFDAC on Drug-related research and investigations was part of its role in engaging institutions.
In her remarks, the Director General, National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, noted that the collaboration between the Office of the National Security Adviser and her Agency over the years had been very positive.
While calling on all Nigerians to join hands against those who indulge in illicit drugs to destroy the future of the young people, she assured that her Agency’s continued collaboration with NCTC in ONSA would lead to more positive outcomes for the benefit Nigeria.
