Don’t compromise nation’s unity, stability, Etsu Nupe tells IGP

Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger state Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has advised the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Kpotu Idris, to work assiduously for the peace and unity of the nation, which according to him, cannot be compromised.
The royal father gave the advice at the weekend while speaking at his 13th anniversary celebration on the throne, which also marked the 8th Nupe Day. Also as part of the event, a civic reception was organised in honour of the IGP.

He said the chiefdom was proud of what God has done for them in elevating Idris and other illustrious sons and daughters of Nupe land to positions of authority, and prayed for God’s guidance and wisdom in the discharge of their duties.
The Etsu Nupe who described the event as a “twin temple celebrations,” expressed the confidence that the IGP, who is also the Zarma Nupe, will continue to uphold the confidence reposed on him by Nigerians and the people of Nupe land in particular, advising him not to compromise on the peace and stability of the nation.
According to him, God has given peace to Nigeria, which must be upheld at all times, adding that “we should continue to pray and thank God for the peace despite the challenges facing the nation.

“We cherish what God has given us in terms of the development in the chiefdom and the peace and tranquility of the nation. This is also my 13th year on the throne of my fathers. I appreciate what God has done and may Allah continue to give us peace in the country.”
In goodwill messages, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state and his Cross River state counterpart, Professor Ben Ayade, declared their support for the IGP in combating crimes.
The governors donated N10m each to the endowment fund for the establishment of ICT centres in Nupe chiefdom, aimed at developing its youths.
In his remark, Chairman of the occasion and paramount ruler of Ikpoti land in Ondo state, Oba Johnson Oladipupo, gave royal blessings to the IGP, which he said was “well deserved.”
