Despite widespread call for Peseiro’s sack, NFF insists on Portuguese

An Executive board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Nse Essien has disclosed that the federation cannot sack Super Eagles gaffer Jose Peseiro due to the fact that they don’t have money to pay him off.

The board member representing South south also insisted that it was the Ministry of Sports Development that employed Peseiro making it difficult for the NFF to handle the precarious situation.

Nigeria’s qualification to the 2026 World Cup is already in serious jeopardy after they could only manage two draws in their first two qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Portuguese coach Peseiro has been singled out for the debacle facing Nigeria football.

“If we had the money, we will be willing to relive him, we’re not happy,” Nse Essien said.

“Everybody is asking for the sack of the head coach.

“It’s unfortunate, that after six points we only have two points.

“We’re in a very precarious situation.”

Nigeria is owing Peseiro backlog of salaries.
