Deputy governor leads Adamawa SEC on sanitation exercise

Ahead of the commencement of the re-introduced monthly sanitation exercise by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Adamawa state deputy governor, Prof Kaletapwa Farauta, Thursday, led other members of the state executive council to evacuate refuse dumps and drainage heaps in parts of the state capital.

Speaking in Yola, after the sanitation exercise, the deputy governor reiterated the commitment of the state government to ensure cleaner and safer environment for the people of the state amid threats of global warming and climatic change.

She called on the people of the state to take environmental issues seriously more than ever before and participate actively in the soon to commence monthly sanitation exercise re-introduced by the state government for their own good and betterment of the state.

According to her, the exercise was re-introduced in the collective interest of the state and its people, necessitating the decision of all the State Executive Council (SEC) members to carry out the cleaning exercise in order to make the public aware of importance attached to it by the present administration.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Environment, Mohammed Sadiq Mohammed, said arrangements had been concluded for the effective take off of the monthly sanitation exercise across the length and breadth of the state and called on the people to embrace the decision of the state government.

He added that the state government is partnering with the Environmental Protection Agency and Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACRESAL) to ensure successful commencement of monthly sanitation exercise in the state and other environmental issues.
