Depositors besiege defunct Heritage Bank in Edo 

Depositors of the defunct Heritage Bank Wednesday beseeched its branch on Akpakpava road in Benin City, the Edo state capital, following revocation of  the  financial institution’s licence.

The depositors who spoke to blueprint said they were at the bank to know their fate concerning their deposits.

Some officials of the defunct bank were seen taking details of the customers.

It was also observed that the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Company (NDIC) has paste a notice of the revocation of Heritage Bank’s license to shareholders and depositors.

The notice also stated  the NDIC subsequent takeover of the bank and admonished stakeholders to cooperate and support the provisional liquidator in the discharge of its statutory duties.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had on June 3, revoked the banking license of Heritage Bank.

The apex bank said the bank has continued to suffer and it has no reasonable prospect of recovery thereby making the revocation of the license as the next necessary step.
