Motorists battled with heavy traffic gridlock on Kubwa-Zuba expressway yesterday.
The gridlock, our correspondent who visited the area during evening rush hour learnt, was caused by natives protesting the demolition of their houses in Lungu, a settlement in Adkan Estate, Gwarimpa II.
Earlier, in the day, 6th Avenue, the major road to the estate, was blocked by the protesters, but the protest later spilled over to the Kubwa expressway causing the heavy gridlock.
A native, who pleaded for anonymity, told our correspondent that the protest was caused by the demolition that took place in Lungu.
He said in the course of the demolition, a two-month-old baby was killed.
He revealed that the baby’s mother also died by stabbing herself because she couldn’t bear the death of her baby.
As at 8pm, the gridlock was still there.
