Delta APC moves against imposition of candidates

The Delta North chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) weekend charged party members to guide against imposition of candidates.

Members were also charged to ignore leaders with divisive tendency in the forthcoming state congress.

Speaking in Agbor, Ika South local government area during an enlarged stakeholders meeting of Delta North senatorial district,  former governorship aspirant and former member of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Cairo Ojugboh, warned members against anti- party activities.

Dr. Ojougbo said  party leaders owe loyalty to the followers adding that it is sad that some leaders get money for their group and elope.

He said, “Some tendency of betrayal has been noticed. If you are put in charge of a polling unit as an agent, you cannot do well in politics.”

The meeting passed a vote of implicit confidence on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for the way he pilots the affairs of the nation.

Dr. Ojougbo canvassed for a peaceful state congress, free of imposition of candidates.

Also speaking, executive director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, ( NIMASA), Victor Ochei, urged party faithful to ignore detractors through show of unity as he warned against the imposition of candidates in the upcoming state congress.

The former Delta speaker canvassed for the Delta north district to produce the state chairman of APC, saying that  ‘we must plan ourselves because that is our negotiating strength.’

He said, “Congress will not divide us , it would bring us together as one family. For those who are saying Cairo and Ochei cannot walk together, those saying we are not united, we are ready for what you are ready for.”

Earlier, senatorial district chairman of the party, Chief George Okafor, urged members to place party interest ahead of personal ambitions.

“If you do anything against your party, you have also lost,” he said
