Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state has called for prompt release of approved funds for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) “because the MDGs is a special programme.”
The governor made the call in Gombe recently when he received members of the MDGs Qualitative Review Team, saying that the programme should not be starved of fund, “especially approved ones.”
He added that this was due to the consequential implication of not fully funding the office of the MDGs, especially at the national level, “which has direct impact on the lives of the rural people.”

He said: “I want to add my voice that, this programme is a special one, so that office should not be starved of any fund, because of the consequential implication of having start a project that people desire, and abandoned it in between the way, so I will plead with federal government that all the 2013 amount that were approved for MDGs are released.”
He also called on the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President (OSSAP) on MDGs to also ensure that funds belonging to benefitting states and local government were appropriately and promptly disbursed to them “so that they can commence implementation of approved projects.”

Dankwambo, also harped on the need to ensure early commencement of all projects under the MDGs programme each year , considering that governments year begins from January and ends in December of every year.
He commended the management of the MDGs at the national level for the focused leadership it had enjoyed these years, “which has resulted into the quality of lives changing projects executed through the programme across the nation.”
