Team to be hosted at Villa today
Minister of Sports and Chairman National Sports Commission, NSC, Dr. Tammy Danagogo has ordered the management of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to release all entitlements to the new African champions the Super Falcons.
Dr. Danagogo who gave the marching order while receiving the team on behalf of NSC at Abuja National Stadium hinted that already the commission has approved all monies meant for the just concluded African Women Championship, AWC.
Blueprint sports gathered that each player is expected to smile home with nothing less than $12,000 which is about N2 million as part of their match bonuses right from the group stage to the final of the competition.
The match bonus pay is aside other outstanding allowances owed each member of the team who have been relocated from their usual Serob Hotel to Transcorp Hilton, Abuja since last night.
While welcoming the players alongside their technical crew and other official, Dr Danagogo expressed satisfaction with the performance of the team at Namibia adding “Our Super Falcons have distinguished themselves as those whose name should in the country’s hall of fame.
“This is a team who has shown uttermost discipline, dedication, passion and patriotism. I will never forget the fact that you people were ready to make sacrifice whether or not there is crisis in NFF or money.
“All their entitlements have been released and handed over to NFF Secretary who will have them over to you.
Teams’ head coach Edwin Okon assured of their readiness to go all out and emerge victorious in the forthcoming FIFA’s Women World cup in Canada which his team have already qualified for.
At the event were factional president of NFF Amaju Pinnick, 1st Vice President Seyi Akinwumi and few executive Board members of Amb Chris Giwa-led led NFF.
