Governor Sa’idu Usman Nasamu Dakingari of Kebbi state has reiterated his administration’s commitment to complete all on-going projects before the expiration of its tenure in 2015.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, said he gave the assurance while inspecting on-going road projects at Saran Dossa, Jega-Alelu-Janduse, Andarai and Dakingari-Bendu-Maitambari.
He re-affirmed that the administration would continue to accord priority to the provision of road network across the state with a view to boosting the socio-economic development of the people by affording farmers accessible roads to market their produce.
Dakingari warned contractors handling various projects in the state to hasten their completion, urging them not to compromise the quality and job specification.
He, therefore, directed the Ministry of Works and Transport to intensify the monitoring and supervision of all projects to ensure compliance.
In a related development, the state government has pledged to pay compensation to land owners affected by construction projects after survey and verification had been carried out.
Dakingari, who made the pledge when he inspected the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Dakingari, said all those whose houses or pieces of land were demarcated to be swallowed by the various construction projects across the state would be compensated accordingly.
He, however, expressed dismay over the lukewarm attitude of the contractor handling the female hostels at the Kebbi state Polytechnic and the NYSC orientation camp at Dakingari and warned him to hasten the completion of work.
