Team Nigeria at the African Track Continental Cycling Championship in South Africa have won five silver and two bronze medals as at the end of the competition on Saturday.
The championship held at the Sax Young Cycling Track at Alexandra Park in the Pietermaritzburg area of KwaZulu-Natal region, began on Thursday.
Information on the competition’s website indicated that Nigeria’s Mary Samuel won four silver in the junior category from the Time Trial, Individual Time Trial, Sprint and Point Race events.
Also, Tambrapa Grikpa, won one silver in the 200m Sprint and two bronze medals in the elite category in the Time Trial and Individual Time Trial events.
The championship is a qualifier for the 2019 World Cycling Championship and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The team is expected back in Nigeria on Jan. 21 and would proceed to a close camping in Gombe ahead of the Africa Road championship slated to hold in Ethiopia.
