Customs boss charges men, officers to uphold CG’s vision to tackle smuggling

The Assistant Comptroller General in charge of Zone “B”, ACG Sambo Kaliel Dangaladima, has charged men and officers of the Nigerian Customs Service Sokoto and Zamfara states Area Command, to uphold new mechanisms introduced by the Comptroller General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, for effective broader surveillance and to tackle smuggling activities in the area.

ACG Sambo who was in Sokoto for a working visit emphasized that the current comptroller general has taken effective measures to tackle smuggling activities and proliferation of small arms and therefore he need the cooperation of everybody to succeed

This was contained in a press statement issued and made available to newsmen in Sokoto by the Sokoto Area Command Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Abdullahi Tsafe Abubakar.

The statement further said that the zonal comptroller advised the customs men and officers to always be embodiment of the service moto which is; ‘justice and honesty’ in their area of responsibility.

ACG Sambo also held an interactive session with Customs stakeholders comprised of leaders of Customs license agents, car dealers association and National Association of Onion producers and marketer to seek their support and build a more effective and efficient system of Trade Facilitation.

He assured of the service support and a hitch free trade Facilitation in line with world best practice which include the deployment of trade facilitation tools such as Authorized Economic Operator programmme(AEO), Time release studies (TRS) and Advance Ruling (AR)
all geared towards strengthening international trade.

Mr Sambo however, advocated the stakeholders to be compliant to Customs extant laws.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Area Controller, Mr. Kamal Mohammed extolled the ACG’s tireless commitment to excellence and unwavering support to the Command which he said has continue to inspire officers and men of the Zone.

Mr. Kamal stated that “Zone B covers the largest landmass among all four zones in the service, making comprehensive oversight a significant undertaking, for a decade due to the challenges posed by this expanse and challenges

He noted that in defiance of the challenge, the ACG Sambo has been able to complete a full tour of all the Commands in the Zone

“In defiance of these obstacles and security challenges, ACG Sambo Dangaladima has been able to tour all commands, demonstrated his commitment to a firsthand and thorough assessment of each Command.”

Mr. Kamal had during the interactive session urged stakeholders to bring forward their observations suggestions, challenges and recommendation.

He further stated that the ACG is a deeply committed leader who will rely their feedback to Comptroller General of Customs.

Also speaking, the Chairman Sokoto Association of Customs License Agent Alhaji Aminu Dan’iya enlogized the ACG for organizing such an engagement which is one of its kind in the last 10years.

The chairman assured the ACG that his members will continue to be law abiding and compliant stakeholders.
