CUPP swears in steering committee

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) yesterday swore in appointed members of the’ Contact and Mobilization Committee led by Rev.
Olusegun Peters.
A statement signed by chairman of the committee, Mr Olusegun Peters yesterday said chairman of the Central Steering Committee, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinola performed the sweering ceremony yesterday in Abuja.
He stated : “We thank the Central Steering Committee for the privilege given to us to serve our great alliance for progress, development and advancement of Nigeria’s democracy and we pledge to justify the confidence reposed in us.
“The Committee will hit the ground running as time is of the essence.
We shall meet and draw up a plan of action for effective contact and mobilization of Nigerians both those at home and abroad including the past and present public office holders, political leaders, the elite, opinion leaders, women and youth groups, civil society organizations, professional bodies, associations, those sitting on the fence to take early decision, indeed, all stakeholders in the Nigeria project.
“APC members who wish to decamp and join the Coalition should feel free to contact our Committee.
It is all about Nigeria and the survival of our democracy.
“We shall traverse all nooks and crannies of the country and reach out to the people spreading the good news of our great grand alliance to restore genuine democracy and provide good governance to our longsuffering compatriots.
“It is obvious that Nigerians are united in their desire to change the current APC-led government that has brought untold hardship to the citizenryeconomic stagnation, political upheavals, social dislocation, religious conflicts and deaths in just three years of being in power.
“Today, Nigerians are more divided and poorer than they were four years ago.
Thousands of our fellow citizens are now refugees in their own country labeled Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Our coalition is therefore a breath of fresh air in our political process and national life”.

Chika Ibeneme and Kenneth Udeze.
