Cultism against Kogi brand – Fanwo

Kogi state Information and Communication Commissioner Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, has warned against cultism in the state, saying it is against the Kogi brand.

He also stressed the need for a “concerted anger and efforts against cultism”.

The Commissioner stated this while briefing the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Kogi State University, Prof Tai Oluwagbemi, on efforts by the Ministry at sensitizing students on the dangers of cultism.

He said “the anti-cultism campaign of the Ministry was aimed at helping tertiary institutions match the directive of the Governor on stamping out cultism in our tertiary institutions.

“Our Ministry is responsible for promoting the Kogi brand. We are peaceful people, industrious goal getters who have contributed immensely to the greatness of our nation.

“We are the center of the nation, the genesis of Nigeria. These are the things we want to be known for, not cultism.

It is heartwarming that the campaign of the state government against cultism is already yielding fruits.

“We will continue to do more to orientate the people on the need to shun all forms of vices in our society. We commend the University Community for taking bold steps against cultism”.

Responding, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Oluwagbemi thanked the Ministry of Information and Communication for driving a consistent campaign against cultism on campuses, saying the efforts of the Ministry is already yielding fruits.

He said programs have been lined up to effectively root out cultism from Kogi state university (KSU).
