CSOs urges govt to prioritise healthcare infrastructure in budgets

The Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition,(ACOMIN) has urged the federal, state and local government areas to prioritise healthcare infrastructure in their budgets.

The called was made on Tuesday at a media briefing on the global fund malaria community -led monitoring project being implemented by ACOMIN in Yobe state.

ACOMIN is a network of CSOs that envision a healthy Nigerian society free of Malaria, Polio, Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis and other communicable and preventable diseases with access to basic, sustainable and health promoting nutrition.

Speaking during the meeting,Yobe state ACOMIN Programme Officer, Muktar Mohammed Shehu, under the period under review, said ACOMIN has recorded tremendous achievement in Yobe state.

According to him, some of the successes include ; refinement of wall crack and medical store, floor at Jakusko PHC, facilitate environmental sanitation and evacuation of blocked gutters in Gashua.
Others are resolved issue around stockout malaria commodities as well as facilitate in increase in supply of ITN across CLM LGA in the state among others.

He noted that, comprehensive policies should be implemented to ensure regular maintenance of healthcare Infrastructure and timely replacement of outdated medical devices.

He enjoined community leaders, philanthropist and private sector partners,religious leaders and faith -based organization to support local healthcare centers and encouraged to view healthcare investment as part of their social responsibility.

“The state of our healthcare Infrastructure is a collective concern,and its restoration requires a united effort, ” he said.
