CSOs seeks review of Benue varsity bursar’s appointment

The Civil Rights Movement Against Corruption (CRAM) has called for urgent review of the appointment of the bursar of Joseph Sarwuan Tarkaa University in Benue state, Mr Simon Tyoule.

The group also raised the alarm over what it described as a deliberate attempt by the university management to undermine existing rules governing appointments in federal establishment by appointing an unqualified person for the job.

In a statement signed by the Executive Director of CRAM, Comrade Seyi Adebanjo, and made available to newsmen, Wednesday, the CSO insisted that the appointment must be reversed to allow for due process.

According to the statement, “As a civil society organisation with a mandate to eradicate all forms of corruption in governance, we are saddened by the desperate attempt by the university authorities to illegally appoint an unqualified person as the Bursar and attempt to forcefully hand over the very sensitive office while sidelining more qualified candidates despite the persistent calls by CSOs to halt the process, even to the extent of challenging the charade in court.”

The group vowed to resist the move until the right thing is done in the interest of all concerned stakeholders.
