CSO Urges Badaru to release N100m counterpart fund

Jigawa state Maternal and Newborn Child Health Accountability Forum (JiMAF) has appealed to Governor Muhammed Badaru Abubakar to release N100 million counterpart fund meant for this time.

This, it said, is one of the criteria laid down for the state to access the federal government Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHPF).

A press statement signed by the co-chairman of the forum, Comrade Mustapha Umar Babura, and made available to reporters Thursday in Dutse said the fund will change the narrative if released in good time.

The forum also called on the governor, to as a matter of public interest, approve the establishment and inauguration of Primary Healthcare Development Agency Board members as a second condition for accessing the fund.

The release explained that accessing the fund will help in reversing the bad healthcare indices of the state, particularly on high rate of child and maternal death.

The however commended the state governor for his prompt response to policy that could improve the social and economic wellbeing of the common man.

It expressed appreciation to donor partners, particularly MNCH2, PERL  WISH, EU, UNICEF, ACF and DFID for their kind support toward improving healthcare service delivery in Jigawa state.
