A socio-cultural organisation, the Igbo Community Association in Cross River state has distanced itself from a purported endorsement of certain political organisations for the forthcoming general election.

The President General of Igbo community in the state, Barr Kingsley Kalu, said this in Calabar, Thursday, in a statement made available to newsmen.

Barr Kalu said at no time did the apex body of Ndigbo, known as Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Igbo Community, mandate anybody to solicit, negotiate or endorse any political party on behalf of the socio-cultural group.

“In as much as any of our members is constitutionally free to support and work for any political party of his choice, the image of both the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Igbo Community Association should not be dragged into such personal arrangement,” he warned.

The Igbo leader noted that as a non-partisan socio cultural organizations, both the Ohaneze Ndigbo and Igbo Community Association would not fold their hands and allow anyone to drag the good names of the organisation into any personal percuniary negotiation.
