Crisis in Katsina PDP congresses worsen

Another set of dispute bedeviling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina state has worsened following the conduct of wards and local government congresses across the state.

The party has held its local government congresses in the state weekend during which local government party executives and 34 national delegates were elected.

Blueprint reporter, who went round some local government areas realised that the election witnessed very low turnout of party members as the congress matter is before the court of law.

It was  gathered that the Mustafa Inuwa-led faction had  took the state party leadership to court, requesting that the ongoing congresses be halted and claiming they were hijacked by the party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke.

The Inuwa-led faction accused Senator Lado of sabotaging the party and crippling its chances of winning the 2023 elections in the state, an allegation which he, Lado denied.

While monitoring the congress election in Rimi local government area, Blueprint observed that the party’s electoral officer, Alhaji Tijjani Mashasha, coordinated the process in the presence of INEC supervisors as well as police and DSS operatives.
