COVID-19: Reps member distributes sanitisers, other materials, tells Oyo traders what to do

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East Federal constituency, in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abass Adigun, Saturday enjoined traders in the country not to hike prices of foodstuff and other essentials in this time of global emergency.

Hon. Adigun made the appeal in Ibadan while distributing 2,500 hand sanitisers, 12,500 face masks and hand gloves to market men and women in his constituency. 

He said there was need for all and sundry to be compansionate with one another in scaling through the challenges at this period.

The lawmaker while lauding Governor Seyi Makinde, on the measures taken so far by the Oyo state government towards preventing spread of coronavirus in the state, said, “at this time of global emergency occasioned by coronavirus, it is important we sensitise the market women, traders and others in the informal sector of the economy on the need to imbibe hygienic practices to forestall the spread of the virus in the state.

“Governor Makinde did well by directing the media unit led by the Commissioner for Information to take the campaign against COVID-19 to markets and create awareness about the virus among the operators in the informal sector.”

The lawmaker also said the donated items were distributed to the beneficiaries in livestock market at Molete, Owode Academy market, sack sellers at Oja’ ba market and others in Ibadan South-east local government area and that traders in markets across Ibadan North-east local government area markets would get theirs on Sunday with flyers in English and Yoruba languages containing awareness messages on COVID -19 to be distributed.
