Covid-19: Medical doctor test positive in Adamawa

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa tate has announced the second case of convid-19 in the state even as he expressed concern over possible community transmission of the disease.

Fintiri disclosed this in a live broadcast to the people of the state where he noted that, the latest case is not linked to the index case making it more worrisome with possibility of community transmission.

“Adamawa state up till yersterday (Monday) the total  Case confirmed was 1,total case discharged 0,and total death is 0 just when we thought we are doing enough to flatten the curve with the tremendous progress our index Case is making towards complete recovery, I received yet again another devastating update  that out of the 8 samples we have pending at the NCDC referral lab in Abuja  1 turned out positive, 6 are negatives and 1 still pending.

“I regret to announced  that we now have 2 confirmed cases in Adamawa state. What is striking about this case is the fact that, it is not linked to the index Case. Last week we sent 8 samples to Abuja 5 were direct contacts of the index Case as traced while 3 were new suspicious cases  who were showing symptoms.”

He noted that having additional case in the state is truly worrisome and more disturbing is the fact that the victim is a medical doctor in one of the government hospitals in Mubi who must have had contacts with many people in the course of discharging his lawful duties.

According to the governor, this has placed an herculean task of contacts tracing  which is not only tedious bit strenuous and more scaring is the fact that, the state may be sliding into the most dangerous phase of the pandemic which is community transmission of the virus more so that, it involve a medical doctor resident in a public hospital with access to colleaqques and countless patients.

He called on the people of the state to care not fear, hope not despair and uphold personal and environmental hygiene such as avoiding overcrowding, maintain social and physical distancing and report any suspected Case among others.
