COVID- 19: Ex- sports minister distributes hands sanitisers to 3,000 Kwarans

No fewer than 3,000 persons benefitted from hands’ sanitisers distributed by former minister of Sports and Youths Development, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, as part of efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state.

The former minister’s gesture which was carried out under the aegis of his political group – Omoluabi movement covered the organised labour, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) .

Represented by the spokesman of Omoluabi Movement, Alh Mas’ud Adebimpe, the former minister said the donation of hand sanitisers was his widow’s mite towards curbing the spread of corona virus in the state and ‘keep my people safe.’

He said his movement has also embarked on enlightenment programme on the need  for the residents of Ilorin  to adhere to safety measures against COVID- 19 as rolled out by the state government.

Abdullahi called on wealthy individuals to come to the aid of the downtrodden in the society through the donation of preventive kits and other necessities.

A retired permanent secretary, Alh Tunde Sidiq, later presented the hand sanitisers to the beneficiaries which included Adewole Development Association, Advancement Front of Alanamu Central,Township Taxi Union and individuals.

All the journalists that covered the event also got their share of the hand sanitisers.

A former chairman of NLC in the state, Alh Umar Akanbi, thanked Abdullahi for his kind gesture and urged other political leaders in the state to emulate his exemplary conduct.
