Court remands 3 for armed robbery

An Ado Ekiti Magistrates’ Court remanded three men: Mohammed Umar, Ibrahim Garba and Usman Mohammodu, in prison custody over alleged armed robbery.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Doyin Akosile, who gave the ruling, said the accused should be kept behind bars pending advice from State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The prosecutor, Inspector Bayo Ajiboye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on February 15, 2014, at Orisunbare Street, Aramoko.
He alleged that the accused, armed with guns and cutlasses, robbed one Dele Ogunyemi of N28, 000 and one Bosede Samuel of a torchlight valued at N1,000 and a Nokia phone valued at N14,000.

Ajiboye said the men also robbed one Ayodele Makanjuola of his Nokia phone valued at N15, 000 and N12, 000 as well as one Olanike Atejioye, who lost her Nokia phone valued at N9, 000 and N9, 000.
He said the offence contravened Sections 1(2), (a) and (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
Further hearing was adjourned to April 30.
