Council presents 2018 budget

Kuje area council has presented its 2018 budget estimates after the Executive Council Management Committee completed a three-day budget retreat in Kaduna to consider the council budget.
The 2018 budget was named a budget for consolidation and greater efficiency but the actual amount to be spent was not made public.
A statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Haruna Usman, said the Chairman of Kuje area council, Alhaji Abdullahi Danladi Galadima, in his welcome address to the participants at the budget retreat, emphasised that due process must be strictly followed when implementing the 2018 budget.
Galadima further enumerated the importance of the budget retreat which, he said, were to enable participants deliberate, assess, prepare the modus operandi of the proposed 2018 budget execution in an atmosphere devoid of distractions.
The Council’s Head of Administration, Mr. D. D. Ayuba, similarly, joined the executive chairman to emphasise on the purpose of the retreat which was to have a good budget planning and proper implementation.
The statement said the 2018 budget of consolidation were the upshot to the achievement of the 2017 budget.
At the end of the retreat, council chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi D. Galadima who was also the presiding officer, made it categorically clear to participants that the 2018 budget must be realistic, sustainable and objective to determine the dividends of democracy to the electorate assuring that the budget will be implemented in full.
In another development, Galadima used the opportunity of the forum to caution the staff against lukewarm attitude to work which, he said, had not been encouraging.
He advised the Head of Administration and National Union of Local Government Employees Chairman (NULGE) to call the staff to order and make them more committed to duty and adopt the spirit of punctuality to work.
