Chairman of Abaji area council, Hon. Yahaya Garba Gawu, has re-assured residents of the council his administration’s commitment towards improving their standards of living.
Gawu gave the assurance at the sensitisation and enlightenment programme organised for the beneficiaries of SURE-P in the council at the weekend.
He said creating wealth and improving on people’s wretched way of living was a way of taking the Transformation Agenda of the federal government into the grassroots, as well as giving the people succour.
He said 620 youths from the 10 political wards in the council had been engaged under the SURE-P in order to achieve the aim.
He said: “You will recall that as part of our administration’s desire to key into the transformation agenda of the federal government in terms of wealth creation and poverty reduction, we have engaged the services of 620 youth and women across the ten political ward to serve as cleaners and vigilante in their various communities all aimed at bringing governance closer to the people and making life easier for the people.”
The chairman said the administration would do everything possible to make the beneficiaries self-reliant.
He urged them to be dedicated to their jobs and utilise the allowances given to them to start a good life with a view to making themselves self-reliant.
Responding, the participants promised to handle their respective duties diligently, commending the chairman for his gestures.
