Council boss donates 48 rooms as corp’s lodge

Isiokpo community played host to the Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed as he inaugurated the 48-room self-contained Corps Lodge built by the executive chairman of Ikwerre LGA, Hon. Samuel Nwanosike.

The landmark project, which comprises two courtyards, two receptions and fully furnished rooms with state-of-the-art electronics and kitchens was built to mark the 2nd year of the 2nd term in office of the executive chairman.

A statement by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) director, Press and Public Relations, Mr Eddy Megwa, said the project was also to appreciate the NYSC scheme, especially corps members for their laudable contributions in improving the living standards of the people of Ikwerre LGA.

Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Nwanosike described NYSC as a strong tool of national unity and integration for all Nigerians.

He recalled his memorable service year experiences in Edo state, noting that he was well treated, hence, his motivation to extend the same gesture to corps members serving in his local government area.

The chairman also commended the corps members in the council area for their commitment, steadfastness and resilience in lifting the standard of living of the people of the area, especially, in the education sector where they have been exceptionally outstanding.

He thanked the NYSC director general, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed, for his sterling leadership qualities since assuming duty.

In his remarks, the NYSC chief executive, lauded the magnanimity of the council boss  and urged other local government chairmen in the country to take a cue from Hon. Nwanosike’s landmark gesture.

Gen Ahmed also used the occasion to appreciate the people of Ikwerre.
