Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has said that the days of impunity in perpetrating acts of corruption were over as the anti-graft body was ready to “apprehend and bring to book anyone found to have soiled his hands in high-profile financial crimes.”
Speaking at the activities marking the World Anti-Corruption Day organised by the Kano state Public Complaints and Anti- Corruption Commission held at the Coronation Hall, Kano Government House yesterday, Magu said the EFCC had sent a clear signal to the low and mighty that the anti-graft body was no safe haven for corrupt elements.
Magu, who was represented by a senior official in the Commission, Hajiya A’isha Habib, stated that the Commission had tighten its noose on the hydra-headed  monster which was threatening the business of governance, stressing that the ongoing investigation into the alleged shady deals of the top military brass left much to be desired.
He pointed out that the business of fighting corruption was a collective effort by stakeholders, affirming that the Commission was yet to succeed in jettisoning the cankerworm and that with the effort and commitment of every patriotic Nigerian the crusade would achieve its objective.

Speaking earlier, Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, expressed the resolve of his administration to empower the state’s anti-corruption Commission to move forward, adding that “no responsible government would ever pay lip service to the crusade to foster accountability, probity and honesty in managing public resources.”
Ganduje, who was represented by his deputy, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, said for the state’s anti-corruption agency to be powerful, it had been made to spread its tentacles to all the 44 local government areas by establishing local government offices.
He expressed the readiness of his administration to support the Muhammadu Buhari administration in fighting corruption, stressing that “aiding and abetting this dubious practice” was inimical to the quest for running the business of governance without hindrances.
