Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, has said no corps member would be posted to any area “where there is security breach”, explaining that the security of every corps member is a matter of priority to the management of scheme.
In a statement made available to Blueprint, Kazaure stated this while addressing the 2017 Batch B Stream One corps members at the Zamfara state orientation camp in Tsafe and also in Wamakko orientation camp, Sokoto state.
According to the statement, the DG urged the corps members to obey constituted authorities throughout their service year and thereafter, adding that their status as corps members is not immunity against being prosecuted if they violate the laws of the country.
Kazaure said the act of nation building is a collective effort of every citizen of the country and urged the members to contribute their quota as graduate citizens.
He enjoined them to acquire entrepreneurship skills while in camp in order to avoid being unemployed after the service year, advising them to respect the culture of their host communities, saying the females should dress decently and avoid provocative dresses.
Zamfara state coordinator, Mrs. Walida Isa, had earlier conducted the Director-General round the camp to inspect facilities.
She said the camp had been progressing without hitch while corps members were diligent and highly disciplined.
In a similar vein, the Sokoto state coordinator, Alhaji Musa Abubakar, informed the D G that the corps members had shown interest in acquiring vocational skills in order to become entrepreneurs.
