Coronavirus: Zamfara cancels 20 students’ strip to China

The Zamfara state government has canceled the trip of its 20 youth who were earlier screened and sponsored to study in various fields in China following the Coronavirus pandemic.

This was announced by the special adviser to governor on scholarship, Malam Lukman Majidadi, while fielding question from newsmen in Gusau, Saturday.

According to him, the state government took the action with a view to protecting the students from the outbreak of Coronavirus, saying they soon be changed to study in to another institution in the Diaspora.

He said Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle had secured admission of 200 indigent students to study various science and technology-related courses in India, Sudan, Cyprus and China among others, adding that many of the students were screened and left the country for their respective institutions where they will study outside the country.

“With the recent outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus, however, the students who were being processed to study in China were stopped and will soon be able to secure admission into another institution outside Nigeria for the safety of their lives and that of other Nigerians. That was the only motive behind the cancellation of the China trip of the 20 youth whose admissions were supposed to be in China, ” Lukman stated.

According to him, all the 200 selected students were expected to study medicine, radiology, computer technology and architecture among others during their stay in their respective instructions outside the country.
