Coronavirus not a myth, NGO cautions rural communities




Waves of Success Foundation, a nongovernmental organisation has cautioned rural communities against believing insinuations that coronavirus pandemic was a myth or big man’s disease.

The chairman and  chief executive officer of the foundation, Mr Ocholi Yusuf, made the call at the commencement of the second phase of distribution of one million hand sanitisers and Preventive Sensitization in Kogi East Senatorial District  to curtail spread of the coronavirus scourge Monday in Ogbagba community, Ofu local government of Kogi state

Yusuf  said the disease was no myth and neither a “Big man’s disease” as being erroneously subscribed, adding  that it was real and had no respect for age, sex or social status.

He urged them to strictly observe the social distancing directive and ensure personal hygiene to curtail further spread of the pandemic saying it was easier and better to prevent than manage COVID-19.

The chairman cautioned that the virus had no known cure for now and would be devastating if allowed to permeate the rural communities in view of their precarious and vulnerable situation.

He urged them to avoid social gatherings including family and community meetings and comply with the state government’s directive ordering civil servants on grade level 01 to 13 to work from home.
