Coronavirus: Anambra state sets up 3 isolation centres, others


Anambra State government, Tuesday, said it has set-up three isolation centres for containing spread of Corona virus in any parts of the state.
The state commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba, who disclosed this in a press release, said the centres were domiciled at Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital in Awka and Onitsha General Hospital.


According to Adinuba, “Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Ekwulobia General Hospital in Aguata Local Government Area and Umueri General Hospital in Anambra East LGA have surge centres, that is, they can absorb patients who may not be accommodated in the three hospitals with isolation centres based on existing facilities.”


He, however, appealed to traditional rulers, presidents general of town unions, market groups, transport unions, trade unions, professional groups, organised private sector, civil servants, religious leaders and others not to relent in sensitising their members on preventive measures with a view to prevent the pandemic from the state.


The state governor, Willie Obiano, had earlier banned public gatherings, shutdown schools and civil service in the state, as well as appointed 23 action committee on COVID-19 headed by himself.
