Confusion as NNPP suspends governorship candidate in Edo

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) has suspended Pastor Azemhe Azena, its governorship candidate for the September 21, 2024 election in Edo state.

Azena was suspended for alleged gross misconduct, disregard for party and anti-party activities by the executive in his ward 10, Etsako East Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The suspension notice dated June 3, 2024, was respectively signed by the ward 10 chairman, Hon Kadiri Eshimokha, Mrs. Stella Afebua, Woman Leader, Comrade Eshiobu Johnson, Youth Leader and Comrade Imonikho Abdul, Secretary.

The ward executive in the letter, also conveyed the development to the National chairman of the Party, Edo State Chairman, Edo North senatorial Vice Chairman, South South Vice Chairman and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, Pastor Azena alleged that individuals who carried out the purported suspension are non members of the NNPP in the ward, adding that “it is inconsequential and of no effect.”

He said: “the authentic Ward 10 Chairman of NNPP in Etsako East Local government is Mr. Goddy lyamah. And he has since refuted the claim to be false.”
